Industry & Clinical Partnerships
The Institute of Biomedical Engineering at the University of New Brunswick boasts world-leading talent in biological signal processing, human subject experimental design, biomechanics, mechatronics, human machine interfaces, embedded systems design, device validation and much more. Our labs, including the Health Technologies Laboratory, the Center for Adaptive Rehabilitation Engineering, and the Andrew and Marjorie McCain Human Performance Laboratory, offer a suite of state of the art data collection systems, human performance analysis and motion tracking systems, and various device validation tools. We are closely partnered with the Stan Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation, a local tertiary hospital, giving access to unique clinical expertise and patients for clinical trials. We also have a growing partnership with Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick, where I am an Adjunct Professor, including collaborative research projects and supervision of Research in Medicine projects.
As a member of the Dr. J. Herbert Smith Centre for Technology Management and Entrepreneurship, I am partnered with some of the best talent in Canada. Did you know that a recent Industry Canada report (p 26) ranked UNB number one in Teaching and Learning, among all Canadian higher education institutions that support entrepreneurship education? In 2014, StartUp Canada recognized UNB with the Most Entrepreneurial Post Secondary Institution of the Year award. If you are an existing company looking to pivot, a new start-up looking for guidance, or simply someone with a great medical device or technology idea, we can help.
As an applied researcher and former NB Innovation Research Chair, I enjoy helping companies access the cutting edge applied research, development, validation, and funding necessary for continued innovation in the Digital Health sector. Working in collaboration with Opportunities New Brunswick, various industry partners, and the New Government of New Brunswick, we are making exciting strides towards growing the Digital Health sector in the province.
